Dutch Lion Daalder
A Dutch Lion Daalder made of silver, struck in 1575. The obverse features an image of a soldier wearing Dutch army attire, holding the edge of his military coat with his right hand and a shield with a lion image in his left hand. The reverse shows a lion standing on its hind legs in an attacking posture. The inscription on the margin reads, "Believers in God do not despair." This piece was found by the Palestinian Antiquities Department as part of a collection of silver coins in Qabatiya in 1998.
