Mamluk Silver Dirham - Bayt Ummar
A Mamluk silver dirham struck in Cairo during the reign of King Baybars in the period between 1309-1310 CE. The obverse bears the inscription "Baybars al-Salhi, the victorious king, the support of the world and the religion," with a lion image below it and the marginal inscription, "In the name of Allah." The reverse reads, "There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, whom He sent with guidance. Struck in Cairo in the year... fifty and six hundred." The dirham was found in Bayt Ummar.
