Sculpted Skull
It is a skull covered with a layer of gypsum in the form of a human skull, showing facial details like the mouth, nose, and eyes, with shells placed in the eye sockets. The origin of this phenomenon dates back to the late Neolithic period (8500-6000 BC), which witnessed the agricultural revolution, plant and animal domestication, and the beginning of human settlement in stable agricultural villages. It is believed that the phenomenon of sculpted skulls, discovered at the site of Tel as-Sultan in Jericho and buried under house floors, is part of the rituals of early agricultural communities and may be related to ancestor worship.
