Umayyad Gold Dinar
Struck in Damascus during the reign of Al-Walid ibn Abd al-Malik, 86-96 AH (705-715 CE). The obverse side features the following inscriptions at the center: "There is no god but Allah, He is One, He has no partner." In the border, it reads, "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, whom He sent with guidance and the religion of truth, to manifest it over all religion." The reverse side at the center reads: "Allah is One, Allah is the Eternal. He neither begets nor is born." In the border, it reads, "In the name of Allah." This dinar was minted in the year eighty-eight.
